FROM FUNDAMENTAL RESEARCH TO REAL-WORLD SYSTEMS

We develop and integrate technologies at the intersection of hardware, software and data processing, with a strong focus on real-time systems, energy technologies and mission-critical electronics.

Our work connects academic research with industrial deployment — from concept and system architecture to reliable, deployable solutions.

EXPERTISE

PTS Research provides applied research and system engineering services focused on the development, integration and validation of advanced electronic systems. We work across the full technology stack — from physical signals and hardware design to real-time data processing and system-level integration. Our expertise spans the following core areas:

ADVANCED ELECTRONICS

R&D of high-speed, mixed-signal and embedded electronic systems, including system architecture definition, circuit design, PCB development and validation.

We focus on robust solutions suitable for critical operational environments, where reliability, performance and signal integrity are essential.

NUCLEAR INSTRUMENTATION

Applied research and engineering of electronics and readout systems for particle, radiation and nuclear detector structures.

Our experience includes high-speed front-end electronics, precise timing systems, trigger and sync architectures, and operation in radiation-exposed environments.

ENERGY SYSTEMS & POWER ELECTRONICS

Applied R&D in the field of battery energy storage systems, power electronics, energy management architectures and control systems.

Our experience covers system design, safety concepts, control strategies and integration of storage technologies into real-world energy infrastructures including financial aspects.

INTEGRATION & DEPLOYMENT

Translation of precise research outcomes into deployable and manufacturable systems.

We support validation, testing, EMC considerations, reliability assessment and preparation for industrial operation, ensuring that developed technologies can move beyond the laboratory and turn into serial production.

PROJECTS

PTS Research participated on projects where technical correctness, reliability, and system thinking are essential. The selected projects below highlight areas in which we have developed and integrated complex technologies for both scientific infrastructures and industrial applications.

FLOW BATTERIES

Participating on system-level development of flow battery technology in collaboration with Pinflow Energy Storage. Focus on component integration, system architecture, operational reliability, and scalability for long-duration energy storage applications.

COLLABORATION & PARTNERS

PTS Research builds on long-term collaboration with high-tech industrial partners and leading research institutions in Europe and North America. Our work spans fundamental research environments as well as applied industrial projects, enabling the transfer of advanced scientific concepts into robust, real-world systems.

We collaborate with international research infrastructures and universities active in fields ranging from nuclear and particle detector instrumentation, through high-speed electronics and data acquisition, to energy systems and power electronics. These partnerships reflect a shared focus on technical excellence, reliability, and system-level thinking that underpins all of our work.

ABOUT US

image

Ing. Jan Zich, Ph.D., MBA

CEO, founder

is a co-founder and managing director of PTS Research, where he focuses on applied research and engineering of complex electronic systems at the intersection of hardware, software and data processing.

His background combines high-energy physics instrumentation, high-speed and mixed-signal electronics, and energy systems engineering. He has long-term experience with the design of real-time data acquisition and trigger systems, FPGA-based architectures, and mission-critical electronics operating in demanding environments.

Jan is an active researcher at the University of West Bohemia and a technical collaborator on large-scale international experiments at CERN (ATLAS, TOTEM). Alongside academic research, he has led and managed industrial R&D projects in the fields of battery energy storage, power electronics, and embedded control systems, including several technologies transferred into real-world operation.

At PTS Research, he is responsible for technical architecture, system integration, and translation of advanced research into deployable technologies.

Ing. Jan Jandík

CTO, founder

is a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of PTS Research, responsible for practical system engineering, industrial integration and delivery of complex electronic solutions.

His expertise lies in power electronics, battery energy storage systems and embedded control, with a strong focus on reliability, safety, EMC and manufacturability. He has extensive hands-on experience ranging from schematic design and PCB layout to testing, production scaling and deployment of real-world systems.

Alongside his role at PTS Research, Jan works as a system engineer in industrial battery energy storage projects and has previously led procurement and technical coordination in energy technology companies. He has participated in multiple applied R&D projects focused on BESS architectures, second-life batteries and energy management systems, including technologies transferred into operational use.

At PTS Research, he ensures that advanced concepts are transformed into robust, manufacturable and operationally reliable technologies.

OUR APPROACH

We treat technology development as a system-level engineering task, starting from physical signals and real-world constraints rather than isolated components. Our focus is on designing architectures that are technically sound, testable and suitable for long-term operation.

We emphasize correctness, timing and reliability as fundamental design principles. Performance is important, but only when it can be achieved without compromising robustness, safety or maintainability in real operational environments.

Our work typically spans the full development cycle — from applied research and prototyping to system integration and validation. We aim to translate advanced research results into practical, deployable technologies that can operate reliably beyond the laboratory setting.
